Ys IX: Monstrum Nox for PC is finally available alongside the Nintendo Switch version following the game’s debut earlier in the year on PS4. If you have Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana and Ys: Memories of Celceta save data, you can unlock useful items in Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. This release from NIS America also reads the Ys: Memories of Celceta save data from the Xseed Games published release. Since I own all the games on PC via Steam, this guide covers those versions but it should also work for the GOG version.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox save data bonus from Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana on Steam
For having Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana PC save data, you get the Old Seal Ring. If you’re having trouble with this save data not being detected, read this.
Old Seal Ring: Received from Dana. A memento of her mother. Grants Essence to its wearer. The Old Seal Ring gives you STR/DEF+15 and Crit Rate+30% when equipped.
How to unlock Ys IX: Monstrum Nox PC save data items
When you start a new save file in Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, you get a prompt to load save data from Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana and Ys: Memories of Celceta. You can only unlock the save data bonus by letting it load the data here as detailed in the screenshot above. It is worth noting that I couldn’t check if this worked across Steam and GOG versions since I only own these specific Ys games on Steam. You will need save data from both games to unlock both items but can unlock the individual items if you only own a single game.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is out now on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It will roll out in all regions this week.
