Capcom just announced that Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 Biohazard are coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S this year with many upgrades and enhancements. Those who own the original PS4 and Xbox One versions will get free upgrades. The upgraded versions will include ray tracing, high frame rates, 3D audio, DualSense support, and more. A release window was not announced. Watch the Resident Evil 2 trailer below:

On PS5, you will be able to get a free upgrade to the PS5 digital version at no added cost. This Resident Evil PS5 free upgrade will likely be available at launch.

There will be a free patch for PC players as well. The Xbox versions will be Smart Delivery compatible as expected.

Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 physical releases for PS5 and Xbox Series X

As of now physical releases have not been announced. Despite the free upgrade, I hope Capcom does new physical releases for the games. I definitely will buy Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 on both Xbox Series X and PS5 if we get new retail releases.

These will be the first Resident Evil PS5 and Xbox Series native releases since Resident Evil Village.
