When you go mining, focus on the newer stone types you see. If you see a point of interest on the floor like a sparkling location, use the hoe and use your hammer on ore veins on walls. When you drain lakes or ponds, the objects you get can be appraised in the museum and donated.

You have a camera in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town that lets you take photographs of various things including wild animals and insects. Take photographs when you see something out of the ordinary. The game will highlight the creature indicating it is something you should photograph to donate. Once you take a photo of a specific creature, you don’t need to photograph it again and can focus on looking for others. You can only store up to 10 photos at one time so overwrite when needed. Once you have donated the photograph, you don’t need it anymore.
