At Summer Game Fest 2023, Square Enix released a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for PS5. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth releases in early 2024 for PS5 and will ship on 2 discs physically. I’m glad Square Enix isn’t doing what EA did with Jedi Survivor. Square Enix recently confirmed that this can be played without having played Final Fantasy VII Remake. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second game in the Final Fantasy VII Remake project retelling the story of Final Fantasy VII over three games. This new trailer shows Red XIII as playable as well. Until we hear more about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, read our Final Fantasy VII Remake PS4 review here and my PS5 review of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade here. Check out the official website here. It looks like we are getting two mainline Final Fantasy games on PS5 in 2023 with Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth if it does hit this winter.
