If you were expecting Death Stranding to have a battle royale mode or Hideo Kojima to make a battle royale game, think again. Thanks to the likes of Fortnite and PUBG, every major game publisher is looking to cash in on the commercial success spawned by these two heavy hitters in the battle royale genre. However Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid series creator Hideo Kojima begs to differ. At San Diego Comic Con during a Death Stranding panel, Kojima explained that he won’t be making a battle royale game.

“The easiest way to make money is to make a game where everyone is on an island trying to shoot each other. I don’t want to make that,” he said. Safe to say the PS4 exclusive won’t feature a battle royale mode either, much to the relief of gamers burnt out on the genre.

Later on during a Q&A session, Kojima gave his reasoning for the creation of Death Stranding and what drives him as a creator.

“There’s no reason to create something that’s already there. I want to create something that gives more inspiration to the world,” he said.

The Death Stranding release date for PS4 is November 8, 2019. Yes, it’s out this year. It’s a remarkably short turnaround time when you consider that Kojima tweeted that the game has been in development for roughly three years.

In addition to the standard edition of the game, there are two other variants— the Death Stranding Special Edition and Death Stranding Collector’s Edition. They’re priced at $70 (around Rs. 5,000) and $200 (approximately Rs. 14,300). Here’s what you get with them.
