Nintendo just announced the Metroid Fusion Nintendo Switch Online release date for Expansion Pack owners. With Metroid Fusion, the full 2D Metroid journey is playable on Nintendo Switch beginning with Metroid on NES Nintendo Switch online leading into Metroid Dread through 2021’s release. It is going to be interesting to see what is next. The trailer showed Kirby following Metroid Fusion, so that is likely. I hope we get Dr Mario & Panel De Pon (Puzzle League) at some point in the future. Overall, I’m very pleased with how Game Boy Advance and Game Boy NSO turned out compared to how N64 Nintendo Switch Online launched. Now Nintendo just needs to let us disable the border pattern. It has been too long.

Hopefully the additions don’t take too long. As of now it is unclear if Metroid Fusion connects to Metroid Prime Remastered in any way. I hope that can be added in the future.

Metroid Fusion launches on March 8 in North America and March 9 in Europe for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. Details for the subscription are here.
