Last week, Capcom released a story trailer for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne that introduced everyone to the upcoming expansion for PS4 and Xbox One. At E3, Capcom had an extended livestream revealing new gameplay mechanics and changes for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Hoarfrost Reach is the new location introduced in Iceborne that has extremely cold weather at all times. Watch the trailer for the new location below:

Seliana is the new home base for this location and it includes all the facilities of Astera but isn’t as spread out. This means you will have access to everything quicker. You can even use room facilities outside your room in Iceborne. The Gathering Hub here will also be easier to use. One of the highlights of the livestream is the new View Mode that is basically a photo mode. This hides the HUD and lets you pose your hunter and palico. This can be used in quests but it sadly doesn’t pause the game. I get not allowing pausing in multiplayer but if you’re in a solo hunt, it should let you freeze the game. The full livestream is below:

As of now, if you’re in a solo hunt and someone else joins you, difficulty scales for multiplayer. This is currently scaled the same for 2,3, or 4 players. It makes hunting with a single friend annoying for certain monsters with too many hit points and I’m glad Capcom is addressing this with a new 2 player diffculty option. This will be triggered automatically just as normal but will scale once again if more than 2 people are in a hunt in Iceborne. Survival Expert is a new skill in Iceborne while Dust of Life is a new item. Mantles can now have decorations as well.
