Back in August, Koei Tecmo announced a localization of Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX for iOS, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in the West. Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX is a collection of both Monster Rancher 1 and Monster Rancher 2. Both of these games had new versions released on Nintendo Switch and mobile in Japan and the collection is getting localized with additional content included this December. In addition to digital pre-orders going live on Switch and Steam, Koei Tecmo announced a global tournament for the upcoming release titled the Monster Koushien World Battle. As of now, a Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX physical release has not been announced. Hopefully it does get one.
The Monster Koushien World Battle celebrates the series’ 25th anniversary and it will be the first tournament like this for the game outside Japan. Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX will use a unique ID system to replace the physical CD system in the original game to spawn monsters. Check out the official website here.
