Atlus just announced that composer Shoji Meguro (Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Saga, Persona 4, Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne, Persona 5) has left Atlus and is now independent. Shoji Meguro will continue to work with Atlus as a freelance composer, but will also compose for other games now. Shoji Meguro has been working on games for a few years now and he will continue to work on his own games and Atlus projects. If you’re not familiar with Meguro’s non-Persona work, his Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga music is amazing. Check out a message from him below in Japanese:

Check out Shoji Meguro’s Twitter account where he will be talking about his upcoming projects here.

While the news was initially surprising and disappointing given how many great Atlus soundtracks he has composed, I’m glad that Shoji Meguro will continue to work with Atlus as a freelancer. He will reveal details about his own game on November 6.
