Raiden IV x Mikado Remix from UFO Interactive and developer Moss hit Nintendo Switch last year, and it arrived on PS5, PS4, Xbox consoles, and PC platforms this week through NIS America. Read my review of the Switch version here and review covering the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions here. For my Raiden IV x Mikado Remix PC and Steam Deck review, I will be covering the PC port, how it runs on Steam Deck, whether it is worth buying for existing Raiden IV Overkill owners, and more.

Raiden IV x Mikado Remix PC requirements

The Raiden IV x Mikado Remix are very low as expected. Check them out below:

Raiden IV x Mikado Remix PC minimum requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 or 11
  • Processor: Intel Core2 Duo
  • Memory: 4GB RAM
  • Graphics: nVidia GeForce 6600 or better
  • Storage: 1GB available space

Raiden IV x Mikado Remix PC recommended requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 or 11
  • Processor: Intel Core i3 or better
  • Memory: 4GB RAM
  • Graphics: nVidia GeForce GT 640 or better
  • Storage: 1GB available space

Raiden IV x Mikado Remix PC graphics options

Raiden IV x Mikado Remix has almost no graphics options. You can just adjust the resolution and window mode (fullscreen or windowed). The resolution goes up to 4K and scales down to 640 x 480 (4:3 aspect ratio). The display options let you rotate the display as well if your monitor, like mine, supports vertical orientation. This menu is also where you adjust the scale of the actual gameplay portion of the screen.

Raiden IV x Mikado Remix PC control options

Raiden IV x Mikado Remix supports keyboard and mouse in addition to controller gameplay. The shot and bomb actions can be remapped for all input methods. The mouse support in menus only lets you confirm or cancel. You will need a keyboard for most things or a controller for everything here. Raiden IV x Mikado Remix also has button prompts for Xbox controllers only right now. I tested my DualSense and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller with and without Steam Input enabled for that. I ended up using my DualSense with Steam Input enabled for the best experience. One more thing to note is that the game seemingly doesn’t let you move from keyboard and mouse to controller inputs on the fly.

Raiden IV x Mikado Remix PC performance – frame rate and resolution

Having tested Raiden IV x Mikado Remix on my laptop and Steam Deck, the current build as of February 1, 2023 seems to run at 58 or 59fps. No setting change made it hit a locked 60fps reading. I reached out to NIS America about this, and will update this if it is addressed or I get a response. On a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5-3550H processor (2.1GHz Base speed up to 3.7GHz), 16GB DDR4 RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GPU, I had no trouble with it at 1080p barring the frame rate being capped at 58 or 59fps during gameplay. Check out gameplay from Gameography done on a PC with an i7-10700, 32GB RAM, and RTX 3070 GPU:

Raiden IV x Mikado Remix Steam Deck review

Just like my laptop, Raiden IV x Mikado Remix runs perfectly on Steam Deck barring the frame rate being capped to 58 or 59fps. I even tested this on two different monitors with different refresh rates. One highlight of the Steam Deck, barring offering a portable alternative to the Nintendo Switch version, is support for Steam’s Remote Play Together which is also available on Windows.

Raiden IV x Mikado Remix PC with Steam Remote Play Together

Raiden IV x Mikado Remix has only offline multiplayer support. Thanks to Steam’s Remote Play Together, you can invite a friend to join in on the action. This isn’t ideal for a genre like shoot ’em ups, but it works relatively well if you have someone near you. I tested it with good results thanks to a friend in the USA.

Should you buy Raiden IV x Mikado Remix on PC?

If you’re new to shoot ’em ups, Raiden IV x Mikado Remix is a good way to sample one of the genre’s better series. I’ve gotten a few people into the genre through the Switch version. If you already own Raiden IV Overkill (now delisted), Raiden IV x Mikado Remix is a harder sell, since it is essentially just new soundtrack options for the same game. It might be worth waiting for a sale if you already own the previous version and want one that will likely be supported for longer on PC.

I’ve enjoyed revisiting Raiden IV x Mikado Remix on current consoles and PC platforms including Steam Deck over the last few weeks. Hopefully my Raiden IV x Mikado Remix PC and Steam Deck performance review helped you decide if it is worth grabbing NIS America and Moss’ newest shoot ’em up release on PC. Check it out on Steam here.
