The latest in this generation’s many souls-likes, Code Vein finally has a price on Steam for Indian users. On the bright side, it’s cheaper than what it would cost you if you were to buy it digitally on PS4 or Xbox One. On the blight side however, Bandai Namco’s anime-inspired take on Dark Souls is far from being in line with Steam’s regional pricing guidelines. The Code Vein PC price in India is Rs. 2,999 versus the PS4 and Xbox One price of Rs. 3,999. With other new games on Steam such as Atelier Lulua and Bandai Namco’s own God Eater 3 having an India price of Rs. 1,299 despite being $60 abroad, it’s a perplexing decision.
Nonetheless, the Code Vein PC Deluxe Edition is also relatively cheaper than its console versions. It’s Rs. 4,499 compared to Rs. 5,800 on Xbox One and Rs. 5,699 on PS4. Here’s what you get with it.
Code Vein Deluxe Edition contents
• Full Game
• Season Pass
• Season Pass bonus: Mia Bonus Content
• Deluxe Edition bonus: Insatiable Bloodthirst accessory pack
Bandai Namco is no stranger to erratic PC pricing. Ni No Kuni 2 which released last year has a Steam price fo Rs. 4,299 while God Eater 3 that was out a few months ago has a Steam price of Rs. 1,299. Both were $60 a piece internationally. It’s as if the company’s pricing strategy is akin to throwing darts blindfolded, you never quite know what to expect.
Keep in mind that the physical editions of Code Vein for PS4 and Xbox One are yet to receive a price. Considering Bandai Namco’s pricing at retail in the past, we won’t be surprised to see these versions be available at Rs. 3,499. However with the threat of increased duties looming, you may just have to pay a bit more if you’re on either console.
Code Vein is out on September 27 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
