Following the PS5 and eventual PC release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, the updated and enhanced version of the excellent Final Fantasy VII Remake, we learned that part 2 was officially titled Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, due this winter for PS5, has seen Square Enix reveal more information over the last few days through developer comments. While most have been non news, today’s comment confirms that Square Enix has made it so Final Fantasy VII Rebirth can be fully enjoyed on its own for those who haven’t played Final Fantasy VII Remake yet. More details aren’t available barring that Square Enix has made preparations for this situation according to co-director Motomu Toriyama. The developer comment is on Twitter here and in the image below:
Can you play Final Fantasy VII Rebirth before Final Fantasy VII Remake?
Today’s developer comment confirms that you can play Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and enjoy it without playing Final Fantasy VII Remake. The developers have “made preparations” so that players who haven’t played the first game can fully enjoy Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. according to co-director Motomu Toriyama. I wouldn’t recommend doing this since Final Fantasy VII Remake already assumed players were familiar with Final Fantasy VII itself, but we shall see how this plays out.
