At E3, Square Enix was initially rumoured to finally announce Final Fantasy VIII Remastered. That actually came true when they surprised everyone at their E3 Showcase. The remaster includes improved visuals, updated character models, and more. It also looks like Square Enix is giving it a retail release. Read about that here. Watch the remastered trailer below:

Dotemu is handling the remaster with Square Enix. Dotemu has worked on some fantastic ports of old games and remasters to current systems over the last few years. Ys Origin is my favourite of the games they ported alongside Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap. Any skepticism I had for the Switch version is now gone with Dotemu revealed.

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered arrives this year for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
