Rune Factory 5 is the first mainline entry in the series since Rune Factory 4 on Nintendo 3DS that got a port to Switch and other platforms recently. The Rune Factory 5 digital pre-order bonus is the Holy Knight and the Bibliophile Swimsuit Set + New Ranger Care Package Item Pack. This will be sold beginning April 26 for those who didn’t pre-order it digitally. It includes swimsuits for the playable characters inspired by Forte and Kiel from Rune Factory 4 and nine of the following items:

The Rune Factory 5 Earthmate Edition is priced at $79.99 and includes the following:

Rune Factory 5 free DLC from Rune Factory 4 Special save data
If you have save data from Rune Factory 4 Special, you will unlock the “Doug & Margaret Visit Rigbarth, Lest’s Outfit, Frey’s Outfit” DLC. This includes the following:
- Unlocks ‘’Lest’s Outfit” and “Frey’s Outfit” cosmetic DLC in Rune Factory 5
- Characters Doug and Margaret will come to live in the player’s town in Rune Factory 5. These characters are not eligible marriage candidates.
Can you upgrade from Rune Factory 5 to Rune Factory 5 Digital Deluxe Edition
As of this writing, it looks unlikely to directly be able to upgrade because Xseed Games mentions the Rune Factory 4 Marriage Candidates Outfit Set cosmetic DLC as being exclusive to the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Earthmate Edition. This might change in the future, because the eShop page for Europe and Australia (handled by Marvelous Europe) mentions the DLC possibly being sold separately later on. As of now, you cannot upgrade but there are DLC sold separately as shown above for swimsuits. This DLC pack includes the following:

Xseed Games mentions the Rune Factory 4 Marriage Candidates Outfit Set cosmetic DLC as being exclusive to the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Earthmate Edition. The eShop page for Australia mentions the following: “Rune Factory 4 Marriage Candidates Outfit Set may be sold separately.”
How to change outfits in Rune Factory 5
Once downloaded from the eShop with your preload or by redeeming the code included in the Earthmate Edition, the additional outfits can be selected from the wardrobe in your character’s bedroom. The Rune Factory 4 Bachelor outfits can only be worn by the male protagonist, and Bachelorette outfits can only be worn by the female protagonist.
Rune Factory 5 DLC release date and roadmap
The eShop lists the DLC included in the Digital Deluxe Edition with a March 22 release date. If you don’t pre-order the game digitally, the the Rune Factory 5 Holy Knight and the Bibliophile Swimsuit Set + New Ranger Care Package Item Pack will be available to buy from April 26.
