Merge Games just announced a large scale physical release of Streets of Rage 4. Streets of Rage 4 arrived last week on all consoles and PC platforms and it is pretty fantastic. I’ll have a review of it in the near future. Merge Games is a big distributor and publisher that has been bringing many great games to retail over the years including Moonlighter. While Limited Run Games had a pre-order for a physical release of Streets of Rage 4 that closes soon, there were hints that another physical release would happen over the last few days. Today, Merge Games confirms the platforms and editions for Streets of Rage 4 but the real news is that this is a large scale. There is a standard edition that will be sold at regular retailers (confirmed by CAG) in Australia, North America, and Europe and a Signature Edition that will be exclusive to the Signature Edition Games store.

Releases like this make me wonder why Limited Run Games that aims to preserve games in physical format is doing limited releases of games that are getting large scale releases. This isn’t even the first time this has happened as Clannad that is up for pre-order on Limited Run Games is a limited release while the Japanese version of Clannad has full support for English as confirmed by my own copy of it. Check out the trailer for the Merge Games physical release of Streets of Rage 4 below:
